Chris Hughton has been linked with a raid on Liverpool for the Reds' back-up keeper Brad Jones.
Various red tops yesterday put Norwich City in the frame as a potential destination for the 30-year-old, who still has two years left on his Anfield contract. Jones has had a bit part role for the Scousers behind Spanish international Pepe Reina since his 2.3m move from Middlesbrough, but Hughton reportedly sees the Australian as experienced competition to John Ruddy. Jones has made just one Premier League appearance for Liverpool – an emotional substitute outing in a 3-2 win at Blackburn towards the end of last season that he dedicated to the memory of his late son who died of leukaemia.
Meanwhile, James Vaughan's pre-season goalscoring form has reportedly alerted Scottish champions Celtic to consider a season-long loan move. The Daily Record claimed yesterday Bhoys' boss Neil Lennon was interested after previously attempting to lure Vaughan north when he was at Everton. The 24-year-old has also been touted for a close season switch to Championship clubs Birmingham and Huddersfield.
