Norwich City’s young midfield starlet James Maddison has joined SPL title contenders Aberdeen on loan until January 4, with Tony Andreu linking up with Dundee United on a season-long loan.
Both were on duty for the Canaries in Tuesday’s big 6-1 EFL Trophy win at Peterborough, with Andreu bagging a hat-trick, before completing moves north of the border. Maddison was also a key figure in last week’s EFL Cup romp against his old club Coventry City, but had yet to make his Championship debut and was behind the likes of Wes Hoolahan and Steven Naismith in the pecking order under Alex Neil.
Aberdeen chief Derek McInnes was on the hunt for a midfielder to replace injured skipper Ryan Jack and targeted Maddison after ruling out a move for former Rangers man Jamie Ness.
Andreu was also involved in City’s recent cup wins and reportedly turned down the chance of a loan return to previous club Hamilton in favour a switch to Scottish Championship club Dundee United.
The 28-year-old had a loan stint at Rotherham United last season, scoring twice in 11 appearances. Tangerines’ boss Ray McKinnon is looking forward to working with Andreu.
“I am delighted with this capture,” he said. “Tony is an excellent player who is a proven goalscorer and he will add real quality and goal threat to our squad.”
