Among the many managers and scouts assessing the talent on show at this summer's European Under-21 Championship is manager Alex Neil.

The Canaries boss is in the Czech Republic as part of his studies for the UEFA Pro Licence, which Premier League managers are required to have at least started working towards.

That not only allows Neil to keep a close eye on prized City asset Nathan Redmond, who is part of the England squad for the tournament, but to also cast his eye over some of the best young European talent.

The 34-year-old promotion winning manager is studying with the Scottish FA and is in Prague alongside the likes of Hearts boss Robbie Neilson – who led the Edinburgh side to the Scottish Championship title – and the Scottish FA's performance director, former Manchester United star Brian McClair.

The group, also including coaches studying for their UEFA A Licences, intend to take in five U21 matches before heading back to Scotland to compare notes and coaching techniques.

'Hopefully these guys will gain ideas from watching matches and benefit from other people's contributions,' director of football development Jim Fleeting told the Scottish FA's website.

'I hope we can learn from one-another through analysing other games especially at this high level – that's very important to us. The idea of sharing ideas and thoughts is so important. I'm delighted to bring such a big group to the finals with the support of UEFA.

'I'm personally looking forward to the competition as a whole and the chance to compare some very talented players.'
