Norwich City looking for a quick Premier Reserve League double

Norwich City's second string can complete a maiden Premier Reserve League double tonight with victory against Wolves Reserves at Telford's New Bucks Head tonight (7pm).

An experienced City line-up featuring fit-again midfielder Jonny Howson, along with senior trio Leon Barnett, Aaron Wilbraham and Simon Lappin beat Wolves 3-2 at Colney last week.

The Canaries' academy prospects and young professionals have largely been on duty away from Norfolk although striker James Vaughan did travel for the recent fixture at Black Country rivals West Brom.

City boss Paul Lambert confirmed prior to Saturday's Premier League defeat at Stoke both Vaughan and defender Marc Tierney had suffered fresh injury set backs in their fitness battles.

Centre back Dani Ayala has returned to training following a hamstring problem while January signing Ryan Bennett is yet to make his Norwich bow.

Wolves are poised to select from the same academy group who played at Colney last week. Caretaker first team boss Terry O'Connor is unlikely to risk any of the squad who were hammered 5-0 at Fulham on Sunday ahead of a pivotal Premier League game against relegation rivals Blackburn.

Matt Ball struck twice and Jamar Loza was also on target at Colney in City's second reserve league win of the season.
