Norwich City link to West Brom’s Simon Cox inaccurate
Internet speculation Norwich City are set to pounce for West Bromwich Albion striker Simon Cox is wide of the mark, it is understood.
It had been suggested on Wednesday the Championship promotion contenders were close to completing a loan deal for the former Swindon Town and current Premier League front man, with some going as far as to suggest the player had already undergone a medical ahead of the move.
However, sources close to both clubs have confirmed those reports are inaccurate – while Albion are also believed to be unwilling to let the striker leave for any club at present.
That is bad news for City's East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town, who were widely believed to be keen on a loan or permanent move for the 23-year-old.
Cox made a 1.5m switch to The Hawthorns in 2009 after a prolific season with the Robins, but has found goals a little harder to come by since. He has made 17 appearances for the Baggies this season, scoring three goals – all in the Carling Cup.
