Reported transfer target Ola Toivonen will sit down and think about his future over the coming days – but the Swede admitted he knew little about Norwich City's interest.

Dutch media on Tuesday claimed the Canaries and PSV Eindhoven had come to a £4.7m agreement for the 26-year-old forward, who will enter the final year of the Eredivisie contract next season and is refusing to sign a new one.

But after playing most of Sweden's World Cup qualifying win over the Faroe Islands last night, Toivonen played it cool over the speculation.

Asked by Swedish media about his future and the links with Norwich, Toivonen said: 'I have not thought about it and did not hear about. I was only concerned with the match for Sweden. Wednesday I'm going to talk about it and reflect.'

And while Toivonen has mentioned a Premier League move would interest him, Carrow Road has not exactly been on his radar.

'I really do not know – what I have at home is not the right TV channels. I only have Canal Digital, so I have not seen a Premier League match this year. So I can tell you very little about Norwich City.

'I have already said that it is an interesting competition, the Premier League, but it is about what the club is all about. That plays an important role. I do not like too many high balls.'

While attacking reinforcements have dominated the early summer speculation for City, a possible defensive recruit came to light on Wednesday in the form of Nigerian left-back Elderson Echiejile.

The defender at Braga, who Norwich will travel to face in Portugal as part of their pre-season plans, has reportedly turned down the chance to extend his current stay at the Portuguese side.

And Africa's MTN Football say City are the latest club to indicate interest in the Nigeria international defender, along with Greek champions Olympiacos and Spain's Real Mallorca.

'Everything is pointing towards Elderson's exit from Braga with Norwich the latest to show interest in signing him,' MTN quoted a source close to the player.

'There is also interest from a top club in Italy, but how serious this is will only be known later this month.'

Braga have apparently already signed two players in the close season who can play in Echiejile's position.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has suggested the Canaries are in a list of clubs hoping to land England Under-21 and Birmingham City winger Nathan Redmond.

The 19-year-old is also said to be interesting Crystal Palace, Fulham and Swansea City, with the cash-strapped Blues aiming to push his price up to £3m – despite just 12 months remaining on Redmond's St Andrew's contract.

Redmond worked under Chris Hughton during the City manager's previous spell at Birmingham.
