Scores of football fans started queuing in the early hours this morning for a chance to buy tickets for Norwich City's forthcoming game with Manchester United.

By the time the Norwich City Football Club ticket office opened today there were about 200 people in the queue.

The tickets went on sale to super members of the club at 9am and quickly sold out.

David and June Swatman, from Thorpe St Andrew, were among the first to take their places in the queue.

Mr Swatman said: 'We were number five and six in the queue - we got there at about 4.30am.

'It is Manchester United, so it will be really good to see them. We wanted to be guaranteed a ticket so we got down there early.

'It was cold while we were waiting but you have to do it otherwise you don't stand a chance of a ticket.

'We are really looking forward to the game.'

Mr Swatman said a steward had said there had been about 220 people in the queue.

Norwich City will take on the current Barclays Premier League Champions Manchester United at Carrow Road on Sunday, February 26 at 1.30pm.

A Norwich City Football Club spokesman said there were often queues for tickets although the size of the queue depends on the game.
