Norwich City loanee Mason Bloomfield is confident of getting among the goals north of the border in the new season.

The 21-year-old summer signing from Dagenham & Redbridge will spend the season with the Scottish Premier League club.

And despite making the jump from the National League to the SPL, the striker is confident he can make an impression.

'Going from the Conference to the Scottish Premiership is a big jump, and especially with the teams that are in this league, so I'm looking forward to the challenge,' he said.

'There are no doubts at all that I'm going to do well up here, get some goals and get the team up the league. Who knows what will happen from there?'

Bloomfield's pre-season has been spent with Hamilton, who begin their campaign today with a League Cup game at Annan Athletic, with the Premiership campaign beginning on August 4 at home to Hearts.

'It has been good,' he said. 'It has been tough, especially in Spain, but I feel a lot sharper for it and I think the whole team is looking sharper as well. It's important to get through pre-season, get through the tough stuff and then you start to play well together.

'I'm delighted to be here; as soon as I got the call from Norwich letting me know there was interest I wanted to jump in straight away.

'It's a great league to play in, it's a great team to play in, I've come in, all the lads have been welcoming, and we're starting to gel together well.'

City's links with Hamilton have been evident in recent years, with Alex Neil leaving as manager to take the helm at Carrow Road in 2015 plus player links with Carlton Morris, who spent time there on loan, and Michael McGovern, who joined City from Hamilton – although neither figured in Bloomfield's move.

He said: 'It was basically just my agent, because he knows this team well, and he was telling me about how the team plays, what it's like, the players who have been here before, and straight away it enticed me. There are a lot of experienced lads here and everyone gels well together, so it's like I'm too shy to talk to them or anything like that. If there's anything I want to know about the club, I'll just chat to them.'
