Josh Murphy has been rewarded for his Capital One Cup starring role by keeping his place in the Norwich City squad for Sunday's televised Premier League test at Stoke.

The England Under-19 international struck a long range goal on his senior debut to spark a memorable 3-2 comeback win over Watford. City boss Chris Hughton has pledged to take his time exposing the wide player to the rigours of the Premier League but Murphy will be in the travelling party for the Potteries.

Hughton confirmed at his pre-match press call on Friday at Colney he has no fresh injury concerns following that extra-time success at Vicarage Road. Club record signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel also trained on Friday morning after recovering from a damaged toe injury and will be available this weekend. Team captain Sebastien Bassong remains a major doubt but Hughton revealed the initial prognosis on his hamstring injury is a positive one.

'He is probably doubtful but we are going to give him right up until the last moment. The good news is that it isn't as bad as first feared,' said Hughton. 'Ricky is fine, he trained on Friday morning and at the moment all the boys who featured Tuesday are okay. Seb is the only one we think is doubtful. It was a long evening for us and the boys had to put a real shift in, but it is always worthwhile when you go through.

'Yes, Josh will be in the squad. That is probably on his performance from the other night but also his form before Tuesday. He has had a good development and he was with us pre-season in America and at the moment he is at a level that he deserves to be in the first team squad. With all young, talented players of his age you have to be mindful how you use them. He is a talent. No doubt. We have to make sure we do it the right way with him, which we will do, but certainly an inclusion in the squad this weekend is a reflection how well he did the other night.'
