Norwich City defender Adam Drury has confirmed he will be fit to play in his testimonial match against Celtic later this month.

Drury missed the 3-3 draw at Arsenal on Saturday after limping off with a groin injury in City's 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool the week before.

Whether he will be fit enough to take part in Sunday's final match of the season, against Aston Villa at Carrow Road (3pm), remains to be seen.

But the 33-year-old is confident he won't be missing his showpiece match on Tuesday, May 22 - his reward for 11 loyal seasons with the club.

The left-back said: 'The injury is all good, I'm back running now so hopefully I'll be fine for my testimonial.

'I'm really looking forward to it. The Celtic fans' response has just been incredible and Norwich have obviously been brilliant as well so hopefully it's going to be a good night.

'It's a massive thank you to Celtic for coming down and bringing so many fans down with them, leaving at like half four in the morning, the response has been incredible.'

The former Peterborough United man couldn't have been blamed for worrying that he would miss his big night but, as ever, Drury remains a team player to the core.

Asked if he his mind had initially flashed to the Celtic match, he said: 'To be honest no, any game I want to be playing in. We had Arsenal the week after and then Villa on the last day and you want to be fit for every game, and obviously the testimonial comes after that.

'I'm really looking forward to it. There's quite a few old Norwich lads coming back for it and maybe one or two surprises on the night, so hopefully if people come along on the night, they'll enjoy it.'

Drury is now just hoping that the Canaries can beat Villa so that the home supporters can enjoy celebrating survival on Sunday.

He added: 'It's a massive achievement for everyone involved in the club to be staying in the Premier League for another year. The same as any other game, we will want to win though.

'The gaffer won't let us relax anyway but every game we try to win anyway so we won't be switching off.'

Tickets for the testimonial are now on general sale and can be purchased from www.canaries.co.uk, by calling 0844 826 1902 or visiting the ticket office at Carrow Road or the Canary Store in The Mall Norwich.

The tickets are priced at 15 for adults and 5 for under-16s. Any Celtic fans wishing to purchase tickets need to do so through Celtic Football Club.
