Norwich City have confirmed that winger Anthony Pilkington has joined Cardiff City.

Details of the move leaked earlier in the week and the transfer has now been confirmed by the Canaries as being for an undisclosed fee, although it is understood that fee is approaching £2million.

Cardiff have confirmed Pilkington has signed a three-year deal with them but are unsure whether the move has been completed in time for the winger to face his former team Huddersfield Town tomorrow.

The move follows Pilkington taking to Twitter at the weekend to deny that he was injured, after manager Neil Adams told the media that the Republic of Ireland international had not trained on Friday.

The midfielder travelled with the Canaries to Molineux but was not named on the substitutes' bench for the 1-0 defeat to Wolves.

Adams insisted that incident played no part in Pilkington's exit though in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's Carrow Road clash with Watford.

A statement confirming the deal on City's official website concluded: 'The club would like to place on record its thanks to Anthony for his services and wish him well for the future.'

The 26-year-old was entering the final year of his contract with the Canaries and started just 10 Premier League games last season because of knee and hamstring problems.

That is in stark contrast to his first season with the club after being signed for around £2m from Huddersfield by Paul Lambert in the summer of 2011.

He scored eight goals in 30 Premier League games during the 2011/12 season and then five in 30 league games during 2012/13, including the winner in a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Carrow Road.
