Norwich City have completed the signing of Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard and a deal for ex-Portsmouth keeper Paul Jones on a busy Thursday morning for the Championship promotion hopefuls.

The 23-year-old Pritchard snubbed a move to league rivals Brighton to agree a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

'I'm ready to come here, fight for my place and hopefully play well,' he said. 'I feel I need to go out and prove myself again in football. I'm 23 now so it's about time I had my own path really. I've had a full pre-season and with our first game at the weekend I'm looking forward to hopefully bedding myself in quickly.'

Pritchard impressed against the Canaries during a season-long loan stint at Brentford in 2014/15 that saw him score 12 goals and push the Bees into the Championship play-offs before losing to Middlesbrough. The ex-Tottenham starlet spent the second half of last season on-loan at Premier League West Brom.

Meanwhile, Jones arrives on a free transfer after signing a two-year deal and will provide back-up to John Ruddy and Michael McGovern after Declan Rudd's recent loan exit to League One Charlton.

'It's one which has come a bit out of the blue but I'm really excited to get going now,' he said. 'I've met all the lads and it's nice to have things done. I'm looking forward to getting settled into the club now.

'I had a season in the Championship with Peterborough a few years ago, so it's not a league that's foreign to me. I'm hoping to add experience to the squad.'

The 30-year-old made 17 appearances last season as Portsmouth reached the League Two play-offs. He began his career as a trainee at Leyton Orient before establishing himself with Exeter City, making over 200 appearances prior to an 18-month stint with Peterborough United.

City chief Alex Neil is delighted to have sealed a double swoop.

'Alex is an exciting player who is capable of both scoring and creating goals,' he told the club's official site. 'He is proven at this level having excelled at Brentford two seasons ago, and adds to our attacking options. I'm really looking forward to working with him on a day-to-day basis.

'With Declan Rudd going out on loan to Charlton Athletic, it's given us an opportunity to bring an experienced goalkeeper into our set-up.

'It was important we brought in someone with good pedigree in the Football League who could add to what we have. In Paul, we have a player who matches the qualities we are looking for well.'
