Neil Adams is prepared to pull Josh Murphy out of next week's England Under-20s squad if the Norwich City flyer is suffering any pain from his heel problem.

Murphy picked up the injury in the recent Capital One Cup defeat at Shrewsbury but has made two late cameo appearances in the Championship since against Blackpool and Charlton.

The teenager was included in Aidy Boothroyd's squad on Thursday for a four-nation tournament in Holland, but Adams is ready to protect both the player and the club.

'Josh is still feeling some soreness and complaining of some pain in that area,' said Adams. 'Of course he wants to be involved with England. You want players to go and represent their countries. It is a great honour and I will never get into that club versus country debate because you want them to go off and play, but we have to make sure they don't get injured. If he is fit, he will go and good luck to him. If he isn't then we'll have to probably consider pulling him out.'
