Happy memories came flooding back for Norwich City manager Neil Adams at Bawburgh Golf Club recently.
As he officially opened a new building for the club's green keeping machinery, together with a re-surfaced carpark, Adams recalled the day he played at the course alongside future Major champion Justin Rose. It was back in 2003 that Rose, who had only just turned professional, visited Bawburgh and played in a four-hole promotional event. The future City boss was his partner that day and said he still had fond memories of the occasion.
Around 150 people members and guests marked the completion of the new facilities with a barbeque and refreshments.
Managing director Robert Barnard thanked all the contractors involved in the six month project and gave a special mention to Jamie Goose, the project manager. He also thanked the Bawburgh green keepers who, he said, had done an exceptional job on the Glen Lodge 18 hole and the Easton nine hole courses this year.
The new building houses a large fleet of John Deere mowers and equipment as well as numerous other implements and hand tools. The fleet has just been renewed on a six year deal with Norwich company Ben Burgess.
