Norwich City boss Neil Adams warns the time has come to batten down the hatches with interest in his players set to reach fever pitch over the final month of the summer transfer window.

Leroy Fer and Nathan Redmond have long been touted with Carrow Road exits, and on Tuesday Ricky van Wolfswinkel's agent, Louis Laros, claimed two clubs 'outside of England and Holland' are keen to sign him.

City midfielder Alex Tettey also revealed the Canaries had rejected an approach this summer from a Premier League suitor for the Norwegian international, and Adams is braced for a bumpy ride as he looks to ward off predators and bolster his own ranks with QPR free agent Gary O'Neil at Carrow Road for Monday's 5-1 friendly win over OGC Nice.

'Yes, I think it will hot up now. Premier League teams are getting back into the swing of things and that creates a knock-on effect which travels right down the leagues,' said Adams. 'We expected it to be quiet over the last few weeks if I am honest but now the World Cup is done and dusted teams are starting to assemble squads and it usually has a filtering down effect.

'There are 30-odd days left but what I would stress is it's also important that you don't wait until the end of those 30 days. We play the first game a week on Sunday so we have got to be as right as we can.

'We've said we are not done and that will probably be triggered by outs. We know we need to strengthen so there could be one or two coming in but we also have to be ready to react if we lose players.'

Adams reiterated after his side's latest friendly win he does not want to offload Fer or any of his best players.

'The phone will be ringing all the time because we have such good players and Leroy Fer will be one,' he said. 'People are going to want him. I hope Leroy Fer is wearing a yellow shirt on August 10. He has a few days off to go and enjoy his honeymoon and he is due to be back with us on August 4 which is the week leading up to Wolves and of course we hope he is with us beyond that.'
