Norwich City boss Chris Hughton savours landmark Arsenal Premier League win

Grant Holt's third in his last three games secured the maiden top flight success of Hughton's Norwich reign after two heavy defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea prior to the international shut down. City fully merited the three points after a frenetic display from the hosts backed by a raucous Carrow Road full house.

'The most satisfying thing is that this has been a long time coming because I felt some of our performances this season had warranted it,' said Hughton. 'This is an unforgiving division and if you don't produce when it matters, the rewards don't come. I'm really pleased and delighted for all the team to get the result. This was a real, quality Arsenal team and I felt we could have maybe got a goal or two more. They had to open up and I felt we could catch them on numerous occasions on the counter and perhaps if there is one disappointment we didn't make it a touch more easier for ourselves towards the end of the game. I thought we restricted them to minimal chances, which you have to do. You have to be a threat yourself.

'Keeping a clean sheet was important, but more so was the three points. We have got that now and we have deserved that. We'll have a good week now. It is certainly enjoyable to have a good Sunday. We'll enjoy this one, that is out of the way now and we move onto the next game.'

Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger conceded his side had been second best.

'First of all I must say that Norwich gave a good performance,' he said. 'They defended very, very well. They were focussed and committed. On our side we had a lot of the ball but we did not produce a lot. We dominated for long spells but it was a very disappointing performance from our side. They defended better than us. We lacked a bit of sharpness at the start and we overall we missed today what makes success at the top level - that is focus and sharpness.'
