Norwich City have announced two home friendlies against Premier League opposition as part of the Canaries' pre-season schedule this summer.

Newcastle United will visit Carrow Road on Saturday, July 24 (3pm), while Everton will provide the opposition for the last friendly fixture on Saturday, July 31 (3pm).

Norwich City boss Paul Lambert told the club's official website: "I think the main objective is to play competitive games. The results are not the be all and end all, you want to win but it's about getting people fit and the two Premier League opponents will be terrific for us, especially here at Carrow Road.

"Newcastle have just gone up and will bring a terrific fanbase down. Everton being the team they are under David Moyes, have been absolutely brilliant the few years he's been there. They will be two really tough games."

Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton said: "We're delighted to be travelling to Norwich for the second of our pre-season matches.

"Like us, Norwich have enjoyed a tremendous season and we'll both be looking forward to the new campaign with much relish and anticipation. I'm sure it'll be a good game of football and a terrific pre-season work out for both sets of players."

In addition seven other games have been arranged with Norwich City sides going to local non-league clubs Dereham Town, Norwich United and Diss Town, as well as the newly-formed Lynn FC.

Trips to Stevenage Borough, Dagenham & Redbridge and former Canary striker Chris Sutton's Lincoln City will also help prepare Lambert's team for the start of the 2010-11 season on August 7.

Lambert added: "The lower league games are a different type of football, it's hard and it won't be easy."

In a change to recent summer preparations the club won't be conducting a pre-season tour with matches, instead the team will travel to Germany for a private training camp between July 11 and 18.

Lambert commented: "It's not your typical pre-season tour. We're there to work and there's not much to do there, as it's in the woods. We'll try and get a behind closed doors game there at the training place. The main aim is to try and get everybody together and work on things to improve the team.

"We were there with Colchester United last season and it's a really nice place. Argentina used it for their 2006 World Cup base and it will be different to what a lot of people are used to."
