Onel Hernandez felt the 2-0 scoreline was not a fair reflection of Norwich City’s performance as defeat to Watford saw Daniel Farke’s side fall to the foot of the Premier League standings.

The Canaries had a season-high 66 percent of possession as well as 17 shots, five of which were on target, while the Hornets scored with their only two shots on target.

However, Emi Buendia's mistake led to Gerard Deulofeu's opener after just 90 seconds and haphazard defending contributed to Andre Gray doubling that lead early in the second half - earning Watford their first win of the season and leaving City bottom of the table.

"We played a good game over the 90 minutes, we controlled the game but we had some mistakes in the game and in this league they punish you for that," said Hernandez.

"Mistakes can happen, we keep going, we try to create a lot of chances, we don't score and then second half, if you have the same situation where they have the chance again, then they punish you."

It was a sixth defeat in seven games for the Canaries and a failure to score means just two goals have been scored in the last six games, both of which were late consolations.

"The team spirit is still there," the Cuban winger continued. "We are a close team, we fight every time together, we train well together, we understand each other.

"It's a hard situation at the moment but we have to stick together in these moments, we have to keep going and work harder.

"The international break comes at a perfect time and after the break we have players back like Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmermann, they are very important for us and we need to come back stronger.

"They are the proper defenders that we have on this position and I think when they are back this will help us a lot."

Hernandez caused Watford plenty of problems but was thwarted by Ben Foster after being sent clean through by Marco Stiepermann in the first half and also wasted two good shooting opportunities.

"When I see the game, we created a lot and, for me, Watford was not such a good team," Hernandez added.

"With my pace, my players like Kenny (McLean), Stiepi, (Teemu) Pukki and Jamal (Lewis) they find me every time and with my pace, I didn't see someone who really stopped me at the end.

"So I don't think it's so difficult, we have to play better, try to do not so many mistakes and then we will win games."
