As he returned to Norwich City’s starting XI, we kept a close eye on Ondrej Duda as the Hertha Berlin loanee struggled to make an impact during a damaging 1-0 defeat to Brighton.

4 - Josip Drmic drops deep and intercepts Dan Burn’s pass, Kenny McLean quickly finds Duda with a sharp pass, who turns the ball wide to Onel Hernandez on the left but City end up going backwards.

6 - Max Aarons can’t get past Leandro Trossard but the Belgian oddly dribbles through his own box and Duda gets in his way, forcing Brighton to scramble clear.

10 - Hernandez cuts inside, Duda turns and opts to float a ball out to Aarons on the right but puts just too much on it and it goes out for a goal-kick.

12 - Exchanges a one-two with Alex Tettey and thumps a pass back to Timm Klose.

14 - The Slovakia international floats a cross over from the left but Brighton defender Lewis Dunk can easily chest back to goalkeeper Mat Ryan.

29 - A neat flick from Duda to Hernandez on the left, cross is over-hit but Tettey controls and lines up a shot, which Burn takes the sting out of. But then poor from the Hertha Berlin loanee straight afterwards as Buendia finds him in space in the Brighton half, just knocks the ball back safely to Tettey rather than turn towards goal and the attack breaks down.

32 - Finds space in the centre-circle, tries to exchange a one-two with Buendia but poor touch from his team-mate.

42 - Duda steps in well to get possession off Burn in the City half, free-kick given Duda’s way.

43 - Turns in midfield and bounces off Aaron Mooy, winning a free-kick.

44 - Dropping deeper trying to get on the ball, the 25-year-old takes his time but then manages to play the ball straight to Seagulls midfielder Davy Propper instead of Emi Buendia.

45 - Aarons makes progress on the right and finds Drmic in the box, who meekly plays to Duda and he tries to play a difficult one-two which Drmic has no chance of catching up with, rather than causing the Brighton defenders a problem.

45+1 - Drmic holds up play on the edge of the box, Duda tees up Buendia, who bundles past Yves Bissouma and pokes a pass to Hernandez, whose shot deflects and loops up for keeper Ryan to claim.

48 - Buendia makes it to the edge of the box but can’t shoot so tees up Duda, who barely makes contact as he slips and the ball deflects to safety anyway.

56 - Buendia exchanges a nice one-two with Duda to spread to Jamal Lewis on the left, Hernandez cuts in but Tettey can’t get the ball out of his feet for a shot.

58 - Goes off the pitch to get a bit of treatment as he appears to be bleeding. Comes back on and slips Lewis down the left, who is brought down by Tariq Lamptey to earn a free-kick in a good position.

63 – Buendia is nearly robbed by Bissouma but Duda chests the ball back to his team-mate calmly.

64 – Buendia cuts in from the right, Duda goes down under pressure from Lewis Dunk far too easily, the ball is lost and no free-kick is given.

67 – Replaced by Adam Idah.

VERDICT: Further evidence of a player who hasn’t adjusted to the physicality and intensity of the English game. You can see he has technique and ability but wants too much time. In fairness, he joined the club in January with confidence already low. Yet as he seems unlikely to be heading to the Championship with City, is it wise for Daniel Farke to give him much game time before he heads back to Hertha Berlin?

RATING: 5 out of 10
