Jamar Loza rewarded Neil Adams' faith with a vibrant Premier League senior debut for Norwich City after being preferred to club-record signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

Adams scotched claims of a major bust-up with the Dutch striker after his omission from the match day squad, with van Wolfswinkel watching the action from the Jarrold Stand.

'Nothing has happened as such. He just wasn't picked to play. He was fit and available for selection but I felt Jamar deserved his chance to play and be involved,' said Adams. 'Was there a strop? I don't know. I named the team and the substitutes and that was it as far as I was concerned. He didn't refuse to be a substitute. I certainly didn't see a strop. The players not involved leave the changing room and that is fairly standard practice. He was watching the game and that was right thing.

'Jamar has vindicated that decision. He gave us something different and he nearly scored, which would have capped a fairytale day for him. It was a simple, straight forward choice.'

Loza (pictured) did not look out of place in a second-half cameo after previous loan stints this season at the likes of Coventry, Leyton Orient and Southend.

The 19-year-old was swiftly involved when he created a chance for Nathan Redmond before bringing a stop out of Lukasz Fabianski in the closing moments.

Adams admits the likes of Loza and the Murphy twins could have a much bigger role to play following the club's relegation to the Championship.

'I thought Jamar did excellently on his debut. He is a player we have brought through the ranks and we sent him out on loan to get him some experience in men's football,' said Adams. 'I thought he looked lively and bright and sharp. He has got pace and he can score goals and he gave the Arsenal defenders one or two problems. That was a big plus point.

'We had great success last season with the FA Youth Cup side and although he wasn't involved in that he is one of a few we feel have a bright future and playing in the Championship next season that could open doors for two or three of them.

'Jamar will certainly be one we are looking to get knocking on the door. Josh Murphy has played a part, his brother Jacob is out on loan and there are others coming through. It is vitally important for the club.'
