Released Norwich City youngster Michee Efete has signed for National League side Maidstone United and could be joined by a former Canaries team-mate at the Kent club.

The 21-year-old was on trial with National League South side Bath City, where former Norwich U18 coach Jerry Gill is in charge, but also got the opportunity to impress at Maidstone and has now signed a one-year contract.

The athletic defender had been with the Canaries since he was 16, having previously been with Crystal Palace, but never made a senior appearance.

He made 26 appearances in the top tier of non-league last season while on Torquay before he was released.'It's quite different to playing under-23s football,' he told Maidstone's website. 'I learned a lot playing in the National League last season and hopefully I can take that into this season as well.'

Efete could be joined by released City keeper Jake Hallett, who has also been on trial with the Stones, where former Norwich striker Jamar Loza is currently playing as well.
