Murphys’ double act spells trouble for Norwich City’s rivals

The Canaries' chief put his faith in youth with nine academy products involved in the midweek 3-1 Capital One Cup second round win over Crawley Town. Josh Murphy's brace grabbed the headlines but his brother's superb raking 40-yard pass for the England Under-19 international's opener was the first glimpse on the big stage of their telepathic understanding.

Adams believes Norwich fans should get used to seeing that exciting link up if they continue to progress at an accelerated rate.

He said: 'Whether you want to call that telepathic or not but they are twins and they almost know what the other is doing. That was a great ball from Jacob. We've seen that since they first came into the building when they were 12. That is what they can do. It is just about refining their games, gaining some more

composure and they have done that year on year to the point where they are ready for first team football.

'Josh deserved his man of the match performance and bottle of champagne. Whether he is old enough to drink it or not is another matter but they were two great goals. He is a first team player now. He has been with us every game and he is pushing his claims.'

Adams revealed a half-time pep talk was the precursor to the Murphys' deadly incursion five minutes after the interval.

'Josh was slowing up his full-back too much and allowing him to make it an even race. I said use your pace, knock it past him and get your shots away and the very first chance he gets he does exactly that,' he said.

'That is what he has got in his locker. He can really hurt defenders when he is focused and confident. I never had his speed but I can give both the twins a lot of advice from my own playing days about operating in that position and how they manage the game. That was just one of the things I spotted, if he could keep his momentum going the defender was always going to struggle.'
