Daryl Murphy is hoping to continue challenging Lewis Grabban as Nottingham Forest's top scorer when Norwich City arrive at the City Ground on Saturday.

Former City striker Grabban, on loan from Bournemouth, took his tally for the season to five goals after coming on for the former Ipswich forward and wrapping up a 2-0 win at Middlesbrough ahead of the international break.

That result extended Forest's unbeaten run to seven matches, leaving them fifth and a point better off than the ninth-placed Canaries.

'I haven't set myself any targets. I just want to keep myself fit and play as many games as I can,' said Murphy, who has four goals to his name so far this season and scored the winner against Norwich at the City Ground last season.

'If I do get the opportunities from the manager then I just want to do well and score goals to help the team. We are in the play-off positions now but we need everyone; we have a big squad and everyone will be used.

'There's no competition between us, but you want to finish as top scorer and I am sure Lewis is the same. We haven't spoken about it or anything, but I am sure it is in the back of his mind as well.

'The points are the most important thing though and if you can contribute to the team winning then that is just as good as scoring a goal.'

Aitor Karanka's side have only lost once this season, 2-1 at Brentford in the league, and knocked Newcastle out of the Carabao Cup. They've also not lost in 12 home games, since April.

'I think it has gone alright so far,' Murphy continued, speaking to Forest's website.

'I have played in some games, come on in some games, got a few decent results and scored a few goals so I can't complain really.

'We are on a bit of an unbeaten run which we would like to keep going but the main thing is that we are up there. We have played some decent teams and got some good results so confidence is high at the moment.'

With the game already close to being a sell-out, he added: 'We want to keep our home form going for as long as possible really, to make it a fortress at home and a horrible place for teams to come and play. It would be nice to see a packed ground.'
