Momentum is the key heading into Norwich City’s Capital One League Cup campaign

City moved into third place in the early standings with a third consecutive league win in Saturday's 1-0 derby success at Ipswich and Adams knows the dangers of easing off when they face John Gregory's underdogs.

'Everybody says losing games becomes a habit. I would turn that around and say so does winning games,' he said. 'What we don't want to do is lose a cup game and then come back to the league looking to kick on.

'You can't pick and choose when you turn it on or off. Let's win as many as we can and keep this run going.

'We'll treat the game and the opposition with the respect they deserve. It isn't going to be a completely changed team and I think the players we put out there will show everybody how much we want to win.'

Adams admits, however, his selection policy must take into account Bournemouth's Championship visit to Carrow Road this weekend. Ryan Bennett, Jonny Howson and Gary Hooper are ruled out through injury and the likes of Kyle Lafferty could get a night off after his recent workload.

'Obviously we'll rest one or two and anyone who maybe picked up a knock against Ipswich are not going to be risked,' said Adams. 'Kyle was just rubbing his knee a little bit and I just thought the longer the game went we had Benno (Elliott Bennett) there to give us that defensive presence, not that we wanted to shore things up but Kyle is more of an attacking option.

'It is difficult because when I looked at this part of the fixture list it is Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday in the league and with the cup competitions on top you hardly get a breather. That is why you need a good squad of players, and a big squad.

'Perhaps we haven't got a big squad but they are all good players. We have to have one eye on Bournemouth, because that is the priority, but we want to win games and Tuesday is another opportunity.'
