Michael Turner admitted there was disappointment in Norwich City's performance at Reading on Saturday – but he was happy to take another Premier League point on the road.

The goalless 90 minutes at the Madejski Stadium will not live long in the memory, but the clean sheet did at least end the Canaries' Premier League record run of 38 away games without a clean sheet.

Indeed, their fourth top-flight shut-out of the campaign already tops their tally of three during last term, and ensured Chris Hughton's side did not help the struggling Royals to the first victory of their return to football's top table.

And for Turner, that was enough to make it a productive trip to Berkshire for the Canaries.

'We can take a lot of pride from another clean sheet,' said Turner. 'We were disappointed with our attacking play, but a point away from home is very good. We are disappointed we couldn't find an opening against Reading.

'We were searching for the wrong ball at times. But a point is probably more use to us than it is to Reading at the moment. They would have been looking to get a win, and wanted to get their season started.'

Turner has taken more than his fair share of knocks since his arrival at Carrow Road in the summer – especially on the pitch. He recovered from his latest, a dead leg suffered in the home win over Stoke seven days earlier, to play the full 90 at Reading – although not without another memento.

'I've been in the wars,' smiled Turner. 'I did my eye, but what did I do last week? I can't remember! I've had that many injuries…

'And I did my shoulder today. But you just get among it and stitch things up all the time. It's what being a defender's about though – looking like me.'

But there is no denying, on a run of eight points out of 12 with three clean sheets to boot, it has been a good few weeks for City and Turner.

'Playing along Sebastien Bassong has been very good for me in recent weeks,' he acknowledged. 'We've been happy with how it's been going recently.

'We should have a few more points this season from our games. But we are pleased with the way the team is playing and the confidence among the boys is good. We can take that into each week and I'm sure we will do well. We play Manchester United next week, but I'll probably be putting my head in where it hurts again.'
