The Canaries bounced back from successive defeats to Fulham and QPR with a 3-1 home victory over promotion hopefuls Aston Villa on Saturday, to move back into the top half of the table.
The Black Cats have won just one of their last 13 matches, a surprise 4-1 win at high-flying Derby, claiming seven from a possible 39 points to leave themselves deep in relegation trouble.
The Wearsiders won 3-1 at Carrow Road back in August, however two of their goals were scored by former City striker Lewis Grabban, who is now on loan at Villa from parent club Bournemouth and has been a big miss having scored 12 goals in the first half of the campaign.
Defeat this evening could potentially leave the hosts 10 points adrift with 12 points left to play for but with their final two games against champions elect Wolves and in-form Fulham, dropping down to League One is already looking likely.
Each and every Norwich City first-team game, our reporters will be on the scene. If you see them – especially with their cameras – say hello.
