Yet another Premier League team have reportedly joined the race for James Maddison’s signature, as the seemingly never-ending story surrounding the Norwich City star’s future continues.
Top-flight new boys Fulham are the latest team to be thrown into the Maddison mix, in the Daily Mirror’s transfer live blog, as speculation about the England Under-21 international’s future shows little sign of slowing.
Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City were all among the big boys touted with long-term interest, with the Canaries said to have beaten Spurs and Liverpool to the playmaker’s signature when signing him from Coventry in January 2016 for a deal reportedly worth £2.5m with potential add-ons included.
Last week it was Everton and Leicester said to have moved to the front of the queue for the 21-year-old though, after 15 goals and 11 assists in 49 games in all competitions for City last season.
The latest Mirror report also includes Southampton in the interested parties, touting a deal of between £20million and £25m.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, West Ham and Huddersfield have all been suggested in reports in the past six months as well.
Maddison was named City’s player of the season, won two Championship goal of the month awards, was nominated for the division’s young player of the season award and named in the second tier team of the campaign.
He is currently continuing rehabilitation work on a knee ligament injury picked up on the final day of the season but is only expected to miss the first week of pre-season.
Whether the creative talent will be beginning pre-season with Norwich is now the question, with the Canaries needing to balance the books as Premier League parachute payments end.
