Head coach Daniel Farke has suggested some of Norwich City's new boys will feature in their pre-season opener against King's Lynn Town this evening.

The Canaries head to The Walks as Farke begins his attempts to try and improve on a 14th-place finish in the Championship at the end of his first campaign in charge.

Working alongside sporting director Stuart Webber to continue shaping the squad to his liking, while balancing the books at the same time, Farke's squad has a fresh look with a month of the transfer window remaining.

The big-money sales of James Maddison and Josh Murphy have been followed by five arrivals so far, although it is unlikely all of the new boys will face the Linnets this evening (7.30pm kick-off).

Argentine attacker Emi Buendia, midfielder Moritz Leitner, Finnish striker Teemu Pukki, Wolvevs winger Ben Marshall and Borussia Dortmund loan right-back Felix Passlack are the new faces City supporters are hoping to see in action soon.

'We won't take any risks,' Farke said ahead of tonight's game. 'It may be too much load for some players and we won't involve those guys because more important games will come.

'But we will see several of the new lads because it's good to see the new lads on the pitch. We want to bring them onto the pitch as soon as possible in our shirt.'

With an intense couple of weeks of fitness training for most of his squad, Farke did stress that the game may come too early for some of his players though.

'If I'm honest, it's not the most important game in the year and we won't take any risks,' he continued. 'All the players who have slight problems and are a bit tired because of the load, we won't take them.

'It's always good to be back on the pitch and the players like to play and not do all this stuff in training - the running, fighting and struggling. We're looking forward to playing 11 against 11 and we're looking forward to the game.'

The Canaries boss added he was pleased with the first couple of weeks of weeks done at Colney ahead of the friendly with the Linnets, which is followed by a trip to Lincoln City next Tuesday.

'It's been a pretty tough time for the lads so far,' City's German coach said. 'We've worked a lot and nearly each and every day there has been double sessions. But I think it's quite important.

'It was a long summer break so it's necessary to work hard and I know the lads are pretty exhausted because the days are long. It's just about four weeks to work like this and then we'll be focused and ready to head into the new season.'

He is also happy with how his new additions are settling in.

'Pretty good because all the players were desperate to join us and to play for Norwich City,' he added, speaking to City's website. 'I think we have a brilliant atmosphere in the dressing room and it was quite easy for the new lads to settle in.

'All the lads who were already here have helped a lot and we have a pretty good atmosphere.'
