The 26-year-old set up former Canaries striker Aaron Wilbraham for the first of his two goals in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Friday night – receiving a standing ovation when he was substituted in the closing stages.

'I just love working hard and there is a lot of running involved in that role,' Bennett told the Bristol Post, ahead of tomorrow night's trip to his former club – and league leaders – Brighton, managed by his former Canaries boss Chris Hughton.

'I've always liked to get forward and attack – that's what my game is all about. There is also a lot of defending to do, but wing-back is the role I like best.

'I like the way the team is set up to play and it definitely suits my game. I've only been here a week, but I already know exactly what the manager wants from me. My legs felt a bit heavy by 80 minutes, but that's because I haven't played many games this season. I've come here to try and do something about it and beating Forest was a great start.'

Other players in loan action away from Carrow Road at the weekend included winger Josh Murphy, who played a key part in MK Dons beating Blackburn 3-0 to earn their first Championship win since mid-August.

The 20-year-old won a penalty in the 10th minute, with Rovers' Adam Henley sent off for bringing him down, which was converted by Ben Reeves. Murphy then crossed for Simon Church to double the lead in the 71st minute before being replaced in the 86th minute.

Centre-back Michael Turner started Sheffield Wednesday's 1-1 home draw with Hull, extending their unbeaten run to five games.

French attacker Tony Andreu was an unused substitute as Neil Redfearn's first game in charge of Rotherham ended in a 2-1 defeat at Brentford.

In League One, Jacob Murphy played all of Coventry's disappointing 0-0 home draw against lowly Blackpool.

In the Scottish Premiership, striker Carlton Morris helped 10-man Hamilton come from behind to draw 1-1 at home with Dundee, seeing a goal disallowed.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel made just the second appearance of his loan spell at Real Betis, coming on in the 54th minute of a 3-1 home defeat to Espanyol.
