Norwich City skipper Grant Hanley has had to be left out of Norwich City's starting line-up at Leeds after testing positive for Covid-19, despite no legal requirement to isolate.

It's understood City were informed by the Premier League that the Scotland defender could not play, bringing Ben Gibson back into the starting XI and taking the captain's armband.

That's after Gibson was dropped for the 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea on Thursday, after conceding two penalties in the painful 3-1 defeat to Brentford last weekend. He partners Ozan Kabak in central defence.

The other two changes see Milot Rashica and Lukas Rupp starting after impressing as half-time substitutes in midweek, with Mathias Normann and Christoph Zimmermann dropping out.

Normann is on the bench but centre-back Zimmermann isn't, with head coach Dean Smith having mentioned the German having an eye infection during his pre-match press conference.

That brings young central defender Jonathan Tomkinson onto the bench, who played 90 minutes as the under-23s won 2-1 away to Fulham in PL2 on Friday night.

Full-back Sam Byram also misses out again for the Canaries, due to fatigue after returning from injury, and Ireland internationals Andrew Omobamidele (back) and Adam Idah (knee) remain out of contention.

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford was pushing for a start after returning from injury during Thursday's 3-0 home defeat to Aston Villa but England midfielder Kalvin Phillips isn't yet ready to return from injury.

Bamford, who had an unsuccessful loan at Norwich in 2016, does start as one of three changes for the hosts.

He comes in for Jack Harrison and Diego Llorente starts in defence, with Stuart Dallas moving to left-back due to an injury for Junior Firpo.

Mateusz Klick also replaces Robin Koch in midfield, who drops to the bench alongside Harrison.

Leeds skipper Liam Cooper (hamstring) remains sidelined and forward Tyler Roberts also misses out.

The match represents the opportunity for Norwich to drag Leeds into trouble and reignited their survival hopes but a win for the hosts would leave the Canaries facing likely relegation with nine games remaining.
