Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has confirmed that Norwich City have had a bid rejected for captain Robert Snodgrass.

The Scotland winger has been offered a new deal at Elland Road which would make him the highest-paid player at the Championship club.

Warnock is waiting on a response while also trying to fend off interest from the Canaries.

Warnock told the club's official website: 'It's been made public that they (Norwich) have bid, but from our own point of view it's not what we're looking for.

'We'd like to keep Rob, and Rob knows that. Whether that will be possible we'll have to wait and see.

'It's difficult when players get their heads turned, but I'd like to keep Rob at the club and that's what I'm trying to do at the moment.

'Unless they come up with a valuation that the club thinks is satisfactory then that's what we want to do.'

Former Canaries boss Paul Lambert was a known admirer of the 24-year-old attacking midfielder and successor Chris Hughton seems to have maintained the interest.

If the Canaries, who last season were put off by Leeds' 8m evaluation of the player, do eventually get their man it would add to the frustration of the Yorkshire club's faithful – who have already seen Jonny Howson and Bradley Johnson defect to the Canaries in the past year.

Lambert paid 2m for Howson before last season's transfer deadline while Johnson arrived at Carrow Road as a free agent last summer.
