Kyle Lafferty has moved to quell talk of an imminent loan switch from Norwich City to Leeds United.
Leeds boss Steve Evans confirmed Leeds and Norwich are in talks over signing the Northern Ireland forward after yesterday's 1-1 home draw with MK Dons.
'Someone told me that the big man was here today, so he must have paid in because he didn't ask for a ticket!' the Scot joked in his post-match press conference, speaking to BBC Radio Leeds.
'Look, I'm not going to be disrespectful to Alex Neil and David McNally, the chief executive at Norwich, but the clubs are talking and we'll see where it goes.'
That sparked fresh speculation about the 28-year-old's future, with the player and his international manager, Michael O'Neill, both vocal about their hopes for the former Palermo and Rangers attacker to get game-time ahead of this summer's European Championship in France.
Lafferty has this evening taken to Twitter (@LaffK) to calm the speculation though, saying: 'I wasn't at the Leeds game. I am overwhelmed at the interest from Leeds United as I understand how passionate the club and their fans are.
'At the moment I am still a Norwich City player and I will continue to work hard and try and force my way into the team. I will train and concentrate on our FA Cup match against Man City on Saturday.'
Lafferty has played just twice for the Canaries so far this season, starting and scoring in a 3-0 home win over West Brom in the third round of the Capital One Cup in September and as a late substitute in a 2-1 home loss to Leicester in the Premier League in October.
The Belfast-born forward scored seven goals in nine games to play a large part in his country qualifying for Euro 2016 though, leading to regular links with loan moves.
He is contracted to City until the summer of 2017, with the club retaining the option for a further 12 months.
Lafferty was included in Neil's squad for two of the Canaries' last four top-flight matches but was an unused substitute, for the 3-0 loss at Tottenham and the 2-0 home victory over Aston Villa.
With preparation for Group C of Euro 2016 – also featuring Poland, Ukraine and world champions Germany – it seems the former Burnley trainee is still not giving up hope of a future in Norfolk just yet.
