Goal-scorer Timm Klose felt Derby County were lucky with the goal which denied Norwich City a fifth successive Championship victory during the latter stages of last night's draw at Pride Park.

The Switzerland international had powered home a header in the 69th minute to give the Canaries a deserved lead against Frank Lampard's promotion hopefuls, scoring his first of the season.

County hit back with four minutes of normal time remaining though, when midfielder Craig Bryson awkwardly managed to squeeze home a Martyn Waghorn cross off his thigh from close range after getting the run on Jamal Lewis.

'I thought we played an unbelievably great game,' Klose said, after City extended their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions. 'It was not easy because Derby is a good side, I think they will be up there as well, they have a lot of quality.

'We stuck together and when they scored that goal it was lucky, I thought it was lucky because he didn't mean it.

'The last 10 or 15 minutes was just defending all together and we really did a great job.'

The 30-year-old defender admitted he is loving playing a key part in Daniel Farke's team this season but is not getting carried away with the good run of form, after a similar upturn tailed off last autumn.

'When you don't lose a game of course it is enjoyable but last year we had a period like this for a while and then we started to lose games,' he continued,

'Never forget, please never forget that we have a young team and they are still learning.

'Jamal was devastated after the game when they scored but what can you do, it's just an unlucky game, but that shows our spirit and our heads are right.

'We want to go out and fight and perform well and that's something we really can look forward to because it shows that we want to be up there and we are hungry to win games and to get us in a great position.'

Klose's goal was his seventh in 97 games as a Norwich player – but his first since the 5-1 loss at Sheffield Wednesday on the final day of last season.

He added: 'I was a bit angry with myself because in previous games I had some good chances to score and never had that final touch.

'I want to perform on my best level, so I was very happy that I scored and helped the lads because I thought it was one of those games that could be decided by a set-piece.

'I thought it was a good sign that we went up 1-0 again and another brilliant performance.'
