It was joy for Norwich City fans, after their 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town secured them a trip to Wembley for the Championship play-off final.

A tense, goalless, first half came to dramatic life after the break when Ipswich defender Christophe Berra handled Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond's goal-bound shot.

Berra was sent off and Wes Hoolahan calmly slotted home the resulting penalty to give the Canaries the lead.

However, 10-men Ipswich Town shocked the Carrow Road crowd when they equalised just 10 minutes later, through defender Tommy Smith.

But the ground erupted just four minutes later, when Redmond fired the Canaries back into front. And striker Cameron Jerome sealed the win in the 76th minute.

Jubilant fans are now getting ready to snap up their tickets for the play-off final against Middlesbrough on Monday, May 25.

Jamie Styles, 45, from Eaton, said: 'The first half was so tense, but the second half was just absolutely superb. We were in the upper row of the Barclay and it just lifted everybody when Wes scored.'

His son Jacob, 14, said: 'It was one of the best games I have ever been to.'

Kevin Williams, 39, from Chedgrave was at the game with his son Ryan, four and father Barry, 67. He said: 'It was very dramatic in there, but we got the result. We're all season ticket holders in the Barclay and we'll be getting our tickets to Wembley tonight. Barry said: 'It was typical Norwich. We play on the edge. When Ipswich equalised I thought the worst, but we've done it!'

David Harden, 67, and his son Matthew, 33, had further to travel to today's match than they will when Norwich take on Middlesbrough at Wembley.

David said: 'We're from West London, so it will only be an hour's walk for us to get to Wembley. We're Barclays end season ticket holders, so we come up to Norwich for the games.

'The atmosphere was so tense. It was gripping in the first half, but we didn't seem to know what to do and we were just waiting for something to happen.

'Nathan Redmond and the whole side came out in the second half looking like a different team.'

Matthew said: 'Wes was as calm as ice for the penalty. We were just saying 'don't chip it, don't chip it'.'

Former Liberal Democrat Norwich South MP Simon Wright, who lost his seat at last week's general election, tweeted: 'At least one team in yellow is having a great month! We beat the blues - now bring on the reds. Roll on Wembley! #OTBC'
