Norwich City midfielder Jacob Butterfield has confirmed he is set for a second loan move this season – but all is quiet on who his new club will be.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who signed as a free agent in the summer after leaving Barnsley, spent two months on loan at Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers during the end of last year – making eight appearances for the Trotters before returning to Carrow Road.

Butterfield played the final 18 minutes of City's 3-0 FA Cup win at Peterborough on January 5, only his third competitive outing in yellow. And now he will look to get games elsewhere over the coming weeks of the campaign.

'So that's me on loan again – club to be announced shortly,' Butterfield tweeted on Tuesday afternoon – begging the question, where is he would be moving to?

While a return to Bolton seems unlikely, their high flying Championship rivals Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough have both been linked to the creative midfielder. Both clubs sit in the second tier play-off positions on 47 points.

Palace boss Ian Holloway was linked with a move for Butterfield at the start of the January transfer window, while Middlesbrough's reported interest has been a more recent addition.

No confirmation of Butterfield's loan move is expected until Wednesday at the earliest.
