Injured defender Ivo Pinto is out of Norwich City's Championship home game against Leeds United on Saturday.

Alex Neil confirmed at Colney on Friday afternoon Pinto has yet to recover from the groin injury that has sidelined him during recent weeks. Youssouf Mulumbu, Steven Whittaker and Matt Jarvis are also not under consideration for the Whites' visit while Alex Tettey is suspended, as Neil's squad look to respond from last week's 5-0 mauling at Brighton.

'Ivo is still in a position where I don't think he is going to be available. He hasn't doing much this week,' said Neil. 'Youssouf is back on the grass and training but he is not going to be ready. He has only really started to up his workload. Steven his making good progress. The only thing with him is he hasn't had any real game-time so that would be a risk.

'Nothing else coming out of the Brighton game. Alex is suspended as well which doesn't help. Louis Thompson has been on the bench the last few games and the ones he has come in, he has played well. He certainly comes into consideration.'

Neil and his players have taken plenty of flak at the manner of their south-coast loss to the Seagulls but the Scot is backing his squad to deliver their response at Carrow Road.

'To be honest, we've just got to get back to the basics of fighting for every single ball and making sure we're competitive in every minute of every game,' he said. 'The one thing we've got to focus on is that it's three points that we've lost. The manner has obviously caused a reaction, and what we've got to do is react on the back of that.

'The players know what's required of them. We've got to make sure we go and show everybody what we're about. We're still fourth in the league; if we win this game, you'd like to think that we can then get back on track. It's been two weeks out of the season where we've done poorly, but what we can't do is afford to be comfortable. In football, that's probably the worst thing you can do. What I'm hoping for is that we're going to be high energy, we're going to be in their faces and we'll try to force our style and hope that we can win the game.'
