Managers always love one of those “welcome headaches” and having to choose between Cameron Jerome and Nelson Oliveira as Norwich City’s main striker at Cardiff this weekend fits the category.

It has to be the man who holds the shirt who gets the vote – and that means Jerome.

Consider the effects of choosing Oliveira: it’s a signal to the Portuguese that, after coming back from a three-match ban, he can walk back into the team. Yes, maybe he has been superb in training and, yes, he was on a great run of seven goals in his last eight games before his red card at Rotherham.

Jerome has two in his last three, including that special goal against Birmingham last weekend. Drop him, and it’s a kick in the teeth.

Starting Jerome with Oliveira on the bench is a carrot to keep them both hungry. There is another option – play them both. Although with Cardiff having won their last three home league games it’s unlikely.
