Norwich City legend Grant Holt has been released by Hibernian following the expiry of his contract.
The 36-year-old scored seven goals in 37 games in all competition for Hibs this season, helping Neil Lennon’s side win the Scottish Championship title.
The Edinburgh side have announced his release ahead of their return to the Scottish Premiership in 2017-18 though, despite three goals in the final four matches of the campaign.
Holt scored 78 goals in 168 games for Norwich between 2009 and 2013, driving the club towards successive promotions from League One to the Premier League and being named player of the season three times.
The former Rochdale, Nottingham Forest and Shrewsbury centre-forward was sold to Wigan for around £2million but a knee injury ruined his time with the Latics and loans to Aston Villa, Huddersfield, Wolves and Rochdale followed before he was released last summer.
Holt was one of six players that Hibs confirmed were leaving the club this afternoon, with a statement concluding: “We would like to thank all the above players for their efforts and contribution to the club and wish them well with their future careers.”
