A look at the squads of Norwich City, Leeds United and Charlton Athletic - the three teams gunning for promotion from League One.

GOALKEEPERS

City look well stocked in this department with Newcastle loan signing Fraser Forster ably assisted by fit-again England youth international Declan Rudd.

Leeds' reliable custodian Casper Ankergren is an ever-present behind the most miserly defence in the division. Grayson can also call on experienced back up in the shape of Shane Higgs who featured in Leeds' televised win over the Canaries at Elland Road.

Charlton's Rob Elliot has now established himself as number one after spells on loan at Notts County and Accrington. But the Addicks' back-up keeper Darren Randolph has only made three appearances at The Valley and last featured in November 2009. Unproven if Elliot was sidelined.

t DEFENDERS

City boss Paul Lambert prioritised reinforcements in this area of the pitch at the outset of the New Year transfer window. Whitbread's arrival and a permanent deal for Martin have addressed a threadbare part of his squad. With Michael Spillane and Askou set to return from injury Lambert could even face a welcome selection dilemma in coming weeks.

Leeds proved in recent FA Cup tussles against high class top flight opposition they are a mean defensive unit. Skipper Richard Naylor is the lynchpin. Grayson also has former Premiership duo Leigh Bromby and Lubo Michalik to call on.

Charlton rely heavily on experienced former Scotland international Christian Dailly to marshal the Addicks' back line. Manager Phil Parkinson, right, also has plenty of defensive options on the books which have been bolstered by Fulham loan signing Elliot Omozusi who featured at Carrow Road in Glenn Roeder's reign.

t MIDFIELDERS

City's Scotland midfielder Stephen Hughes showed his versatility by slotting into Simon Lappin's vacated wide left berth against Walsall. Hughes has also deputised for Darel Russell previously at Southend, anchoring the base of Lambert's diamond. Tom Adeyemi also featured at Roots Hall while Anthony McNamee is now another option.

Leeds have a decent blend of youth and experience. Homegrown talent Jonny Howson, Coventry man Michael Doyle and Neil Kilkenny are all equally adept in the combative role while Robert Snodgrass and Max Gradel provide the craft.

Charlton's promotion push has been built on a free scoring, creative midfield unit. Parkinson has moulded the precocious talents of England youth starlet Jonjo Shelvey and Lloyd Sam alongside nine- goal playmaker Nick Bailey and one time City target Matthew Spring to add some invaluable experience.

t STRIKERS

City's Wes Hoolahan's productive season in front of goal eases some of the burden on City hot-shots Grant Holt and Chris Martin. Cody McDonald showed in midweek he can score goals at this level with the right service while fellow back-up Johnson looks a threat whilst still finding his feet at the higher grade.

Leeds' coveted frontman Jermaine Beckford has plundered 16 of their 46 league goals but the razor sharp finisher is short of front line support. Luciano Becchio, Tresor Kandol and attacking wide player Snodgrass are still in single figures. Grayson brought in Sam Vokes on loan from Wolves but the Welsh international has since returned - an area of concern if Beckford makes an 11th hour transfer window departure or is sidelined for any length of time.

Charlton are second only to City in the league goal charts despite Burton being the only frontman in double figures. One time Norwich loanee David Mooney is also currently at The Valley from parent club Reading while Leon McKenzie is struggling to play more than a bit part role.
