Former Norwich City loanee Henri Lansbury may find himself a summer transfer make-weight – which would rule him out of another spell at Carrow Road.

The 20-year-old England Under-21 star and Arsenal midfielder was a popular figure during City's memorable campaign last season, playing a big part in returning the Canaries to the Premier League during his six months in Norfolk.

But while City have been linked with a 2m summer move for the Londoner, Arsenal may have different ideas.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is already holding fire on extending the midfielder's current deal, which is due to expire in 12 months' time, and left Lansbury out of his 23-man squad for Arsenal's pre-season tour to Asia.

Now reports suggest Lansbury could be offered a season on loan at top-flight rivals Bolton Wanderers with Gunners' team-mate Ignasi Miquel, in order for Wenger to secure a permanent move for Trotters' centre-back Gary Cahill.

City boss Paul Lambert has already made six summer signings, including midfielders Bradley Johnson, Anthony Pilkington and Elliott Bennett.

Lansbury scored four goals in 23 appearances for City last season, narrowly missing out to Connor Wickham on being named Football League young player of the year before taking part in England's European Under-21 Championships campaign in Denmark last month.
