Former Norwich City footballer Keith Ripley has died at the age of 77, after a long illness.
The versatile Yorkshireman, who played at centre-forward and wing-half, made 12 consecutive first team appearances for the Canaries, scoring six goals, in Division Three in the 1958-59 season.
Ripley began his career with Leeds United, making his Football League debut against Stoke City in 1954, playing alongside the legendary John Charles and helping the club to promotion to Division One in 1956.
He joined Norwich in 1958 but moved on after a brief stay to Mansfield Town, later playing for Peterborough United alongside another ex-Canary, Terry Bly, and for Doncaster Rovers, for whom he made his final league appearance in 1966.
He died in his birthplace of Normanton and his funeral will be held at Pontefract crematorium tomorrow. His children have decided to place a scarf from each of his clubs on his coffin.
