SC Telstar boss Andries Jonker believes the fact Daniel Adshead and Sebastian Soto are training with the club is a sign of the trust Norwich City have with his side.
City sent under-23s midfielder Adshead to the Netherlands to train with the second-division side with a view to securing a season-long loan.
The 18-year-old featured in Telstar’s friendly victory over Quick Boys on Saturday and ex-Arsenal academy boss Jonker believes the clubs growing relationship is beneficial to both parties.
“ (Dan) Adshead is regarded as a very big talent at Norwich.
“Norwich now need to decide whether they want him to play another season in the under-23s, in which they don’t play on the highest level and which is regarded as kind of a glorified youth league, or have him play first-team football on the Dutch second level, of which Norwich is familiar with after loaning out Charlie Gilmour last season.”
City’s young Scottish midfielder Gilmour spent last season on loan with Telstar and the Canaries were pleased with his progression through the course of the season.
Todd Cantwell also had a spell in the Netherlands back in 2018, when he joined Fortuna Sittard and helped them secure promotion to the top-flight.
City relationship with Telstar has led to the Canaries suggesting players to the club - which is how Adshead ended up in the Netherlands, as Jonker explains.
“The cooperation with Norwich is going very well and there is trust from Norwich in the way things are done here at Telstar,” Jonker told Dutch outlet NH Sport.
“It was initiated by Norwich to send over Adshead, they said ‘are you interested to get him involved at Telstar this season, it’s something we are happy to see happen.’”
City newboy Soto is also close to joining Telstar on loan - with the clubs sorting the paperwork on a move that will see him join the club next season.
“In the case of Soto their was some discussions with the agent, but Norwich then stepped in and said we are happy to make it work.
“Soto made quite a good impression during training here and we will make our decision at the end of the week.”
