Emotional scenes at Carrow Road as Norwich City supporters pay tribute to superfan Michelle Dack

Michelle Dack died from cancer on Tuesday. By the time of her last match at Portman Road in October, the grandmother had been to 908 consecutive games to watch her beloved team.

And supporters paid a powerful tribute to one of their own in the 52nd minute of today's Championship clash with Middlesbrough, which the Canaries won 1-0.

All four sides of Carrow Road were on their feet as applause rang out for the avid supporter. A rousing rendition of On The Ball, City followed and those in the Norwich City dugout also stood up in applause.

Afterwards, Mrs Dack's partner, Ian Mitten, tweeted: 'Just composed myself. A wonderful tribute. Thank you Carrow Road.'

Before kick off, a picture of Mrs Dack was displayed on the screen at Carrow Road and the stadium announcer prefaced a chorus of On The Ball City, by saying 'this one is for Michelle'.

Mrs Dack, whose favourite player was Cameron Jerome, was well known around Carrow Road thanks to her work as a golden goal ticket seller.

Mr Mitton said earlier this week that they shared many memories together but some of the most memorable were at the football.

'The lasting memory I will have of her in terms of football is the fact that she just went to support her football team,' he said. 'She didn't care if they were brilliant or if they lost, she just wanted to watch them play.

'I remember looking over at her at a match once and just seeing the pure enjoyment on her face.'

It was also an emotional occasion for television presenter Simon Thomas and his son Ethan. The eight-year-old was one of the Canaries' mascots for today's game.

They were left devastated in November last year when Gemma Thomas, Ethan's mother and Simon's wife died at the age of just 40.
