Harry Toffolo would happily return to Doncaster on loan from Norwich City once his broken foot has healed.
The left-back made 17 appearances for the League One side but saw his loan finish almost a month early after picking up the injury during a 1-0 defeat at Oxford.
The 22-year-old, a member of City's 2013 FA Youth Cup winning team, now faces an anxious wait to see if he will be fit before the end of the January transfer window.
'I have really enjoyed my time here and learnt a lot from all the staff, so I'd be happy to stay here,' he told Rovers' website. 'Progression is the important thing for me at this stage in my career.
'Obviously with the injury now it is down to the two clubs to come to an agreement that suits everyone.'
Of the injury, he added: 'I'm gutted, I had a good run in the side and it is really frustrating – but if I had not made the block then we could well have conceded. If the ball is there to be won I have to put my foot in, it's just disappointing to miss such a busy period.'
