Dereham are warming up for their first Bostik League Division One North fixture away to Aveley on Saturday while City’s development squad begin their Premier League Two fixtures away to Aston Villa next Monday, at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium.

Matt Gill’s U23 squad started pre-season with two wins in Germany, beating Paderborn U23s 2-1 and then thrashing a young Borussia Dortmund U23 team 6-0.

They have been brought back down to earth however by 2-0 wins at Colchester United U23s, a 1-0 loss to senior opposition at National League side Sutton United and a 2-0 loss away to Leicester City.
