Derby County have reportedly made a bid of £8million for Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira.
HITC Sport claim the promotion-chasing Rams have made the bid for the Portugal international, who has scored seven goals in 26 games for the Canaries so far this season.
City signed Oliveira from Benfica in a deal potentially worth up to £5m in August 2016, after he had spent the 2015-16 campaign on loan at Derby’s local rivals Nottingham Forest, scoring nine goals in 29 games.
Gary Rowett’s side are currently second in the Championship table after just one defeat in their last 11 league games but are just two points clear of third-placed Cardiff.
Norwich reportedly turned down an offer of £12m from Swansea for the Portuguese forward at the end of last year’s summer transfer window. He has also previously been linked with Reading and Wolves, where his agent, Jorge Mendes, has brought in a raft of expensive talent from Portugal for the big-spending Championship leaders.
Oliveira scored 15 goals in 32 appearances during his first season with City but has struggled for form recently, only featuring as a substitute during last weekend’s 0-0 FA Cup draw with Chelsea due to an ankle knock.
He made his first Portugal appearance in almost two years in August, scoring in a 5-1 win over the Faroe Islands, but injury cost him his place in the most recent squads.
With the European champions preparing for this summer’s World Cup, the striker’s chances of going to Russia look slim unless he can find his form again soon.
