Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to be linked with one of Norwich City’s hot prospects but Stuart Webber has stressed there is no pressure to sell the club’s ‘crown jewels’ this summer.

Spurs are the latest club to be linked with Ben Godfrey since promotion, with the Daily Mail reporting the fresh interest from Spurs, with clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool already linked with the England Under-20 defender.

Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis have also been linked with Premier League sides regularly but Webber is relaxed about the speculation as he believes the Canaries can offer the youngsters everything they need to continue their rapid development.

"If you look at what they're going to come back to in July, in terms of the new gym, new facilities, new match analysis room - it's stuff which stinks of a club which is trying to take things seriously and which is trying to be the best they can be in the Premier League," said City's sporting director. "So why would you leave? Naturally there will come a point when people outgrow you, or you outgrow them. So there might be some of our players moved out in 12 months who have been an unbelievable part of the journey, who we might be selling, because we've gone ahead of them.

"But likewise there might be some players who outgrow us and 'Man United want them, or Liverpool' or whatever and actually we can't compete with that because that's the Champions League and the biggest clubs in the world. But if you take this year, it's almost like, why would you leave?"

Webber added that none of City's young stars have been disrupted by the speculation either, saying: "All the conversations that I've had with them as individuals and their agents, there's no pushing from them.

"You can never say never. If one of the huge boys comes in then that conversation might change from their side or whatever."

He concluded: "The brilliant thing about promotion as well, is that we're not going to go out and spend a lot of money but also we don't have to go out and sell.

"For the last two years we've been talking about who we are going to sell, how much for, how much do we need to raise? It's nice to be thinking that we've got our crown jewels and we can keep them, continue to develop them, continue to work with them."
