Former Norwich City boss Chris Hughton bears no ill feeling towards the Canaries as he prepares for his first meeting since a Carrow Road exit when Brighton entertain his old club in the Championship on Good Friday.

Hughton insists his focus in now firmly on the Seagulls after a two-year stint in Norfolk ended with his dismissal towards the end of last season's doomed Premier League relegation campaign.

'Do I have any animosity towards the club? Absolutely not. I look forward to seeing a lot of people that I spent time with and I will always look upon the club very fondly,' Hughton told the Argus. 'The game's always going to be about making decisions and clubs and chairmen and CEOs will make decisions they feel are right at the time.

'From the moment I left Norwich I wanted only to look forward and I've been given a great opportunity here to try and develop something and improve our fortunes and very much look forward to next season.

'Clubs will always have reasons and sometimes their reasons can be right or they can be wrong.

'I can only really speak about the facts. I had a two-year period there. In the first season we managed to finish in 11th place and went on a ten-game unbeaten run in the early part of the season.

'The second season was more difficult and it's normal, particularly in the Premier League When I left I think at that stage we were five points clear of the relegation zone.

'My responsibility now is very much here and to see if I can get the club into some of the positions Norwich have been in during the last few years in this division.'
