Championship award nominations for Norwich City duo after super September

Super September has earned Norwich City a double award nomination in the monthly Championship gongs.
Canaries boss Daniel Farke has been included on the shortlist for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month Award after leading his team to four wins and a draw in the league last month, as well as a cup victory.
Finnish striker Teemu Pukki has also been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award after scoring goals in three successive league games, two of which were winners.
City head coach Farke is up against Wigan manager Paul Cook, West Brom boss Darren Moore and Sheffield United chief Chris Wilder for the managerial gong.
The nomination replicates last season when an upturn in form saw the German coach put forward for the award for the first time, after four wins and two draws in the league had lifted hopes – although he didn’t win a year ago.
That form tailed away and the Canaries eventually finished 14th in the table, leaving City fans hoping that the latest nomination will not be followed by a drop in form.
The nomination from the EFL states: “The German’s cautious style hasn’t always pleased the Norwich faithful, but a haul of 13 points from a possible 15 in September certainly did. His side demonstrated they have no problems winning close games, with four single-goal victories.”
Pukki is competing with Championship top scorer Neal Maupay of Brentford, West Brom striker Dwight Gayle and Blackburn star Bradley Dack for the player award.
His nomination states: “Used every part of his anatomy to score in September, toe-poking home against Middlesbrough, then chesting in at QPR. Those were both winners, while the Finn also scored the opener at Reading and won the decisive penalty against Wigan.”
The judges are former Ipswich manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ EFL League expert Don Goodman; EFL marketing director Drew Barrand, League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL trader Mikey Mumford.
The winners of both awards will be revealed tomorrow.
