Cantwell joined Fortuna Sittard on loan towards the end of the January transfer window and has so far made one appearance as a substitute, with the Eerste Divise promotion chasers slipping to third place in recent weeks.

Former Nigeria captain Oliseh was suspended by Sittard on Wednesday for what the club deemed 'unacceptable actions' and said legal advice was being taken. However, the 43-year-old responded that he had been suspended due to his 'refusal to participate in illegal activities'.

Posting on Twitter, Oliseh said: 'I confirm: Due to my refusal to participate in Illegal activities at Fortuna Sittard and violate the law, I have been suspended from my duties as coach by the foreign owners of Fortuna. Unfortunate for the lovely fans, my players and our hard fought phenomenal positioning for promotion.'

In response, the club issued a lengthy statement on its website, saying: 'Fortuna does not recognize itself at all in these accusations, which were not highlighted by Sunday Oliseh to the club.
